Alexei Navalny is a Russian opposition leader who has been highly critical of Vladimir Putin. In August 2020 Navalny was poisoned while on a trip to Serbia, medically evacuated to Berlin and discharged a month later. In January 2021 he returned to Russia where he briefly galvanised opposition protestors before being arrested for fraud and contempt of court. He is currently serving a nine-year prison sentence and facing new charges of extremism. Two weeks ago, his lawyers revealed that his health is failing and he has allegedly been poisoned again.
